Raised Garden bed - Stage 1

If you are building a rock wall or raised rock garden bed, you will need a lot of rocks. We got ours from a renovation project that didn't need them. When selecting the rocks be careful to get flat or semi-flat ones to help make the rock wall come together easier. For this project we preferred wedge shaped rocks, since we are saving the flat ones for our rock patio. We collected many smaller rocks and dirt (lots of dirt) from digging up a part of the yard for another project. The smaller rocks are placed beside the larger ones, inside the bed to help stabilize the wall. Then place your dirt in the bed and on the smaller rocks. Don't be too picky about getting it straight, it has a more natural look when it's a bit off. Just make sure that the rocks are not leaning outward, this could cause it to collapse. Preferably, the wall should be leaning in slightly towards the middle, not dramatically, just a touch.
